UPDATE 1-OFT sends more evidence in dairy price fixing case
* Says only Tesco, Morrison contest provisional findings
* Tesco says did not collude, will defend position
(Adds details, Tesco response)
LONDON, July 23 (Reuters) - Britain's consumer watchdog on Thursday said it had sent more evidence to some of Britain's biggest supermarkets and dairy companies in an investigation into price-fixing of certain dairy products seven years ago.
The Office of Fair Trading said only supermarkets Tesco (TSCO.L) and Wm Morrison (MRW.L) were continuing to contest the provisional findings, originally issued in September 2007.
"At this stage it should not be assumed that the law has been broken," the watchdog added in a statement.
In response, Tesco reiterated it did not collude with anyone and said it would continue to defend its position strongly.
"We will of course look carefully at any new evidence the OFT sends to us relating to events that took place in 2002 and 2003," Executive Director Lucy Neville-Rolfe said in a statement. Other parties in the investigation include Asda <WMT.N, Dairy Crest (DCG.L), Sainsbury (SBRY.L) and Robert Wiseman Dairies RWD.L, which will receive reduced penalties after admitting involvement.
