Norway's ruling Labour lead jumps in pre-vote poll

OSLO, July 24 (Reuters) - Norway's ruling Labour Party
jumped 5.7 percentage points to 35.1 percent in an opinion poll
ahead of September elections, a monthly survey by Norstat
polling agency for daily newspaper Vaart Land showed.
That reversed a large drop in June's poll from May.
The opposition Conservatives were the only other gainers in
the poll, with a rise to 15.1 from 13.4 percent.
The biggest opposition group, the right-wing Progress Party,
fell 2.5 percentage points in the poll to 26.1 percent.
Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg will fight challengers from
the Progress Party and other right-of-centre groups to renew his
three-party coalition's majority in the Sept. 14 election.
If the poll was converted into an election result, the
governing coalition of Labour, the Socialist Left (SV) and the
Centre Party (Sp) would gain 82 seats in parliament against a
total of 87 seats for the opposition parties.
