Nikkei hits 6-wk high on earnings hopes, Nomura up

TOKYO, July 27 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei share average hit a six-week high on Monday, boosted by hopes for better-than-expected Japanese corporate results, with brokerages such as Nomura Holdings (8604.T) climbing.

The benchmark Nikkei .N225 rose 1.8 percent or 173.72 points to 10,118.27 after rising as high as 10,131.64, its highest since June 12.

The broader Topix .TOPX gained 1.3 percent to 932.82. (Reporting by Rika Otsuka)
