UPDATE 1-West Fraser to shut down 3 facilities for two weeks
* To shutdown three facilities from August 4 * Decision due to continuing weak markets July 27 (Reuters) - Canada's West Fraser Timber Co Ltd (WFT.TO) said it plans to shutdown three of its lumber production facilities for at least two weeks due to continuing weak markets and a strengthening Canadian dollar.
North America's largest softwood lumber producer, said it intends to implement market-related curtailments at each of its Houston, 100 Mile and Chasm sawmills and the facilities will be shutdown for at least two weeks from August 4.
"The decision to restart operations is dependent upon market conditions which will be reviewed on an ongoing basis," the company said in a statement.
Shares of the company closed up 52 Canadian cents at C$25.04 Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
