BEIJING, July 28 (Reuters) - China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) (0883.HK) said on Tuesday that it had successfully drilled a new oil discovery in Jinzhou.

The new olifield, JZ 20-2N, was located in the northeast of Liangdong Bay, the company said in a statement.

The discovery well JZ 20-2N-1 penetrated oil pay zones with a total thickness of 33.4 metres and drilled to a total depth of 3,720 metres, with a water depth of about 16 metres, it said.

The well was tested to flow at an average rate of 1,900 barrels of oil and 3,450 thousand cubic feet of natural gas per day, it added.

CNOOC said it was still appraising the oilfield to determine the scale of reserves and commercial viability. (Reporting by Eadie Chen and Chen Aizhu, Editing by Chris Lewis) (eadie.chen@thomsonreuters.com; +8610 6627 1268; Reuters Messaging: eadie.chen.reuters.com@thomsonreuters.net))
