UPDATE 1-Ev3 posts Q2 profit; raises FY view

* Sees Q3 adj EPS $0.09 to $0.12 July 28 (Reuters) - Endovascular device maker Ev3 Inc EVVV.O swung to a quarterly profit, helped by higher sales at its neurovascular and peripheral vascular segments, and raised its forecast for the year.

For the second quarter, the company posted a net profit of $24.0 million, or 23 cents a share, compared to a net loss of $27.4 million, or 26 cents a share. Excluding special items, the company posted a profit of 14 cents a share.

Revenue for the quarter rose to $109.1 million.

The company's neurovascular segment posted a 28 percent rise in revenue and sales at the peripheral vascular segment rose 5 percent, on a constant currency basis, from the prior year period.

For the year, the Plymouth, Minnesota-based company now expects a profit of 47 cents to 53 cents a share, before special items. It had previously forecast a profit of 40 cents to 45 cents a share.

Shares of the company closed at $10.95, Monday on Nasdaq.
