Redskins sign up rookie Jarmon
WASHINGTON |
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Washington Redskins have signed rookie defensive end Jeremy Jarmon, who is banned for a year from college football, the NFL team announced on Tuesday.
The Redskins obtained Jarmon on July 16 as a third-round pick in the 2009 supplemental draft - forfeiting a third-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Jarmon was with the University of Kentucky for the last three years but was ruled ineligible to play in his senior season after testing positive for a banned substance in February.
After receiving a one year ban from college football, the player said that he had inadvertently taken a dietary supplement that contained a substance banned by the NCAA, college sport's governing body.
The players appeal against the ban was rejected.
The Redskins released fullback Jonathan Evans on Monday, opening a roster spot for Jarmon.
