Tata Steel sees Europe cap utilisation rising

MUMBAI, July 29 | Wed Jul 29, 2009 7:07am EDT

MUMBAI, July 29 (Reuters) - India's Tata Steel (TISC.BO), the world's eighth-largest steelmaker by output, expects capacity utilisation in Europe to rise to 65 percent next quarter and 70 percent for the full year, its managing director said on Wednesday.

Volumes and prices had seen a marginal recovery but the trend was similar to previous quarters in Europe, B. Muthuraman told reporters.

Earlier, Tata Steel reported a larger-than-expected 47 percent fall in June quarter profit from its India operations as realisations fell sharply on lower commodity prices. [ID:nBMA003479] (Reporting by Prashant Mehra; Editing by John Mair)
