Damascus and Tel Aviv Nearing Destruction? J. E. Becker Announces New Book,
'The Beginning of the End'
ALPHARETTA, Ga., July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Is a twenty-seven-hundred year-old
prophecy about to be fulfilled? Damascus claims to be if not the oldest
continuously inhabited city in the world, at least the oldest continuous
inhabited capitol city in the world. Isaiah, a prophet in the Old Testament,
predicted that Damascus would cease to be a city and become a ruinous heap. As
a result, Isaiah also predicts the ruination of both Syrian and Israeli
economies. Does this sound like current happenings?
Obviously, this prophecy is unfulfilled. An earthquake could not completely
destroy a city this large. Besides, he predicts the fortress of Ephraim will
cease also. The only major city in Israel that fits is Tel Aviv, which stands
upon ground taken over by the tribe of Ephraim when Dan's tribe moved north.
Tel Aviv also houses the Israeli Defense Force headquarters.
This suggests a nuclear exchange between these countries. We know Syria was
trying to develop something nuclear. So, is this prophecy on the verge of
fulfillment? J. E. Becker, who has studied Bible Prophecy for over fifty
years, thinks so. She uses this scenario as back history to drive the Israelis
and the Palestinians to the peace table in the beginning of fictional Book 1
of The Armageddon Trilogy: "The Beginning of the End."
The book opens with the signing of a seven-year treaty (the Holy Covenant)
between the two adversaries. The compromise worked out gives the Palestinians
East Jerusalem for their capitol and the Jews a portion of the temple mount to
rebuild their temple. Then the focus shifts to other troubled areas of the
world, while the Jews rebuild their temple and recover their Ark of the
Covenant.
The main characters of the story feature religious Jews: American, Rachel
Lieberman, a Harvard graduate who works at the Israeli Embassy in Washington;
Simon Lieberman, her father; David Solomon, an Israeli captain in security;
and his men, who accompany the Israeli Delegation to the peace conference.
These carry the story against a background of political finagling and a total
blackout of sunlight, caused by an unexpected near collision with an asteroid
trailing huge dust clouds in its wake. The US president's hair whitens because
of problems caused by the seven-day darkness.
Power struggles begin among several leaders for domination over the global
scene. These struggles are set up in the first book then continue through book
2. Major players include Pope Peter II, Israel's prime minister, the suave
negotiator from Lebanon, the czar of Russia and the US president. The first
book ends with World War III.
