NEW YORK, NY, Jul 30 (MARKET WIRE) --
People.com, the leading celebrity news site, has entered into an
exclusive partnership with Seattle-based Big Fish Games
(www.bigfishgames.com), the world's leading online destination for games
and interactive entertainment. Through this partnership, People.com will
offer its 10 million monthly unique users (Source: Nielsen, June 2009)
direct access to Big Fish Games' "A New Game Every Day!"(R) offering,
along with their catalog of more than 2,000 free online and paid premium
downloadable casual games. According to Comscore Media Metrix, the online
gaming segment continues to show dramatic audience growth with the
category attracting 87 million U.S. visitors in May 2009, up 22 percent
versus a year ago.
People.com's partnership with Big Fish Games underscores People.com's
continuous focus on providing its visitors with differentiated and
exclusive entertainment. Starting today, People.com's main games page
(www.people.com/games) showcases select online and downloadable games in
categories such as Adventure, Puzzle and Time Management. Visitors will
have access to the full Big Fish Games catalog of 2,000 games, including
the popular episodic brands Mystery Case Files, Hidden Expedition, Azada,
and Fairway Solitaire. In September, People.com visitors will have access
to the debut of Drawn, Big Fish Games' widely anticipated "Cinematic
Adventure" series. In addition to new offerings from Big Fish Games, users
will continue to have access to People.com favorites such as Hollywood
Hangman, Celebrity News Quiz, Odd Star Out, Celebrity Concentration, Love
Connection and Puzzler.
People.com will receive a share of revenues on all transactions through
Big Fish Games. This serves to further People.com's revenue
diversification strategy that began with People.com's paid iPhone
application. This iPhone application launched in May and continues to
experience great success.
"People.com continually looks for new and innovative ways to enhance our
users' online experience beyond the celebrity genre," explains Mark Golin,
editor of People.com. "We know that People.com's target demographic of
women is very engaged in casual gaming. By expanding and diversifying our
games channel to include casual games from Big Fish Games, we are
providing our audience with an even wider variety of entertainment
options."
"This strategic partnership brings together two trusted entertainment
industry leaders that share a common focus of providing the best online
and downloadable casual games to the large and rapidly growing audience of
women and moms," explains Jeremy Lewis, CEO of Big Fish Games. "Together,"
Lewis continued, "we will provide People.com's visitors with world class
online entertainment and unparalleled customer service, both of which are
cornerstones of our respective brands."
