with SOFTCON IT-Service GmbH. SOFTCON is now offering Layer 7`s SOA and
cloud-based security and governance solutions to its customers in Germany and
Austria. SOFTCON expects this agreement to strengthen its position in the area
of application and Web service delivery.

Application Services

Businesses use application services technology as the means to quickly and
cost-effectively connect distributed applications over the Internet. For
example, Web-based travel agencies can allow customers to efficiently book
travel by taking information from multiple providers such as airlines, hotels,
rental agencies and payment services and delivering them in a single
application. Web services technology is based on standard XML data formats such
as SOAP, REST, AJAX and RSS.

Layer 7 Technologies provides high-performance XML SecureSpan appliances in
hardware, software and virtual (VMWare) form, used for controlling, monitoring
