Indian shares rise 1.4 pct; State Bank, ICICI gain

* Power Grid Corp of India (PGRD.BO) gained 1.5 percent to
118.70 rupees after its net profit jumped 79 percent in the
April-June quarter.

* Provogue India Ltd (PROV.BO) rose 5 percent to 51.50
rupees after it said its board would consider a buyback of
shares on Aug. 14.

* Patni Computer PTNI.BO jumped 12.6 percent to 327.75
rupees after the company said it will scout for acquisitions in
the range of $50 million to $200 million in Europe and the
Asia-Pacific to help lower its dependance on the U.S. market.
