Lundbeck, Solvay stopped bifeprunox studies
COPENHAGEN, July 30 |
COPENHAGEN, July 30 (Reuters) - Lundbeck (LUN.CO) and Solvay (SOLB.BR) have stopped joint R&D activities for Solvay's compound bifeprunox in development for maintenance treatment of schizophrenia, Lundbeck said in a statement on Thursday.
"Efficacy data did not support pursuing the existing development strategy of stabilisation of non-acute patients with schizophrenia," Lundbeck said.
The companies made this decision after evaluating the recent results from an interim analysis of pooled data intended for a possible extension of the ongoing clinical phase III trial programme. (Reporting by Teis Jensen, editing by Will Waterman)
