WASHINGTON, July 30 (Reuters) - A U.S. Republican senator trying to forge a bipartisan deal to overhaul U.S. healthcare said more time was needed to complete the bill and the Senate Finance Committee could not vote on it before September.

Senator Michael Enzi, one of six leading senators on the tax writing panel trying to strike a bipartisan deal, told reporters that the package, which aims to lower healthcare costs and expand coverage to the uninsured, was far from ready.
