FACTBOX-Security developments in Afghanistan, Aug 2
Aug 2 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1300 GMT on Sunday:

* EASTERN AFGHANISTAN - Three U.S. troops were killed in eastern Afghanistan, the U.S. military said. A statement by NATO-led forces said a patrol was hit by a roadside bomb and then came under small-arms fire by insurgents.
* HELMAND - A roadside bomb killed four Afghan soldiers in the Gereshk district of southern Helmand province, the Defence Ministry said.
NIMROZ - Afghan police killed 12 insurgents after militants attacked a checkpoint in the Khash Rud district of southwestern Nimroz province, bordering Helmand, on Saturday, the Interior Ministry said.
SOUTHERN AFGHANISTAN - Two soldiers from the NATO-led force were killed when their patrol was hit by two roadside bombs in the south on Saturday, the alliance said. It did not give any more details. (Compiled by Kabul Bureau; Editing by Paul Tait)
