Aug 3 (Reuters) - British data centre operator Telecity Group Plc (TCY.L) said its first-half adjusted pretax profit doubled due to strong demand for Internet services and that its current order book was in line with its expectations.

The London-based company, which operates 22 data centres across Europe, said it expected that the progress shown in the first half would continue throughout the year.

"Given the combination of our strong order pipeline, capacity expansion in key locations and momentum from the first half, we are well placed to deliver another year of substantial growth for the group," Chief Executive Michael Tobin said in a statement.

Adjusted pretax profit was 13.5 million pounds for the six months to June 30, compared with 6.7 million pounds in the year ago period.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) was up 75.2 percent at 29.4 million pounds.

Revenue rose 33 percent to 82.2 million pounds.

The company's shares, which have gained 22 percent in the last three months, closed at 337 pence on Friday on the London Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Purwa Naveen Raman in Bangalore; Editing by Gopakumar Warrier)
