CITIGROUP (C.N) Citi Global Markets has appointed Joseph Chang as head of Asian Equities Trading ex Australia and Japan. Chang, who was most recently HSBC's co-head of Asian Equities, will be based in Hong Kong.
BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC (BRKa.N) (BRKb.N)
Richard Santulli, the chairman and chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway Inc's private jet company NetJets Inc and long considered a possible successor to Warren Buffett, has stepped down, effective immediately.
Buffett appointed David Sokol, the chairman of Berkshire's MidAmerican Energy Holdings unit and also considered a top candidate to run Berkshire, as NetJets' chairman and interim chief executive. [ID:nN04173703]
ING (ING.AS)
The Dutch bank named Frank Koster as chief executive for its Insurance Asia/Pacific business line. Koster will relocate to Hong Kong, and will begin work effective October 1.
FIRST REPUBLIC BANK
The provider of private banking and wealth management services appointed Andrew Smaltz as managing director of foreign exchange. He joins a growing team of foreign exchange professionals at First Republic Bank.
Prior to joining First Republic, Smaltz was vice president at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in its foreign exchange and derivatives group.
ACE GROUP (ACE.N)
ACE European Group, part of the companies of insurer and reinsurer ACE Group, appointed Mike Reynolds as Chief Financial Officer. Philippa Curtis, CFO for ACE's European operations since 1996 will be retiring in September 2009.
Reynolds most recently was Chief Financial Officer of Aon Benfield. Based in London, he will report to Andrew Kendrick, ACE European Group's chairman and chief executive.
NEW YORK LIFE
The insurance company hired Sue Ericksen as chief technology officer and senior vice president of the corporate information department.
She will report to chief information officer Eileen Slevin. Ericksen previously served as chief technology officer at Merrill Lynch Banks.
FRIED, FRANK, HARRIS, SHRIVER & JACOBSON
The law firm announced the election of seven new partners, as of Sept 1. They are Lisa Bebchick, Shahzeb Lari, Beth McClain, Jeffrey Ross, David Selden, William Thum and Edward Ughetta.
RBC CAPITAL MARKETS
The investment banking arm of RBC announced the appointments of Henry Michaels, Jerry Wiant and Sean Burke to its U.S. investment banking Financial Institutions Group (FIG). Michaels will serve as co-head of the U.S. FIG, Wiant will co-head RBC's U.S. Depositories group, an FIG subgroup and Burke joins as a managing director.
AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION
Foley & Lardner's Donna Pugh, a partner in the firm's Real Estate practice, has been appointed as Chair of the American Bar Association's (ABA) Section of State and Local Government Law.
RELIANCE MUTUAL INSURANCE SOCIETY LTD
