Fluor names ex-KBR exec to run government division
* Fluor competing with KBR for more military contracts
* Bruce Stanski spent more than a decade at KBR
SAN FRANCISCO Aug 5 (Reuters) - Engineering company Fluor Corp (FLR.N) has named Bruce Stanski as head of its government group, giving him a similar position to what he once held at KBR Inc (KBR.N) as Fluor competes for more military contracts.
Stanski replaces John Hopkins, who will become group executive for corporate development, Fluor said in a statement on Wednesday.
The announcement comes less than a month after the U.S. Army chose DynCorp International Inc DCP.N and Fluor over incumbent KBR for five-year contracts worth up to $7.5 billion each to support U.S. troops in Afghanistan. [ID:nN08397324]
Since last year, U.S. military logistics contracts have been opened up to Fluor and DynCorp as well as KBR, which said last week it was expecting new contract awards for Iraq later this year or in early 2010. [ID:nN30330357]
Stanski spent more than a decade at Houston-based KBR, serving as chief financial officer for two years in addition to his time in the government and infrastructure division, before joining Irving, Texas-based Fluor in March. [ID:nN18381725] (Reporting by Braden Reddall; Editing Bernard Orr)
