Kudzu.com makes it easy to find environmentally-friendly businesses
ATLANTA, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumers who have moved away from
tree-consuming phonebooks and use Kudzu.com to find local professionals online
can now easily choose to use green-friendly businesses. This is made possible
by Kudzu.com's new Green Credentials feature on merchant listings.
Beginning today, businesses on Kudzu.com can report green initiatives on their
profiles with the Green Credentials feature. After the Green Credentials form
is filled out, users will see the information posted on the merchants' public
profiles, designated by a green leaf icon.
With this new feature, consumers can make more informed decisions about the
businesses they choose.
"We're excited to help consumers find the right businesses based on their
specific needs, whether it's price, convenience, or in many cases, green
initiatives," said Tom Bates, vice president of Cox Search Inc. and general
manager, Kudzu. "Everyone wants to do their part in sustainability today.
Here's a great way to help users and businesses make better choices when it
comes to the environment."
The Green Credentials feature will allow businesses to share information
including any environmentally-focused, third-party-rated certifications they
have received. Companies also can report other ecologically-based efforts such
as paperless record keeping/billing, the use of non-toxic products, recycling,
and green vehicles used for company transportation, among others.
Companies that provide green services also will be able to report their
environmentally-preferable product and service offerings on the Green
Credentials feature, including:
-- Increasing home energy efficiency
-- Reducing water consumption and chemical use
-- Improving air quality
-- Providing environmentally-preferable products such as hybrid vehicles,
biodegradable body care and pet care products, recycled carpeting, and
sustainably-harvested wood
-- Reducing waste
-- Recycling old materials when replacing with new materials
The Hoots Group, who tout themselves as Atlanta's Green Contractor on
Kudzu.com, is among the first to use this new feature. In their Green
Credentials report, they write: "All Hoots Homes are designed and built using
energy-efficient, environmentally responsible building techniques. All are
built to EarthCraft House, LEED for Homes, and/or Energy Star standards. We
offer Green architectural and green design services as part of our design
green build green approach. Green services include but not limited to: Whole
house air sealing and draft stopping, insulation upgrades to reduce your
energy bills, Installment of Solar Thermal."
More and more, businesses are moving towards environmentally-friendly
practices and trying to reduce their carbon footprint. Kudzu is embracing this
change and providing their users with the power to choose those businesses.
Kudzu.com is part of Cox Enterprises and participates in Cox Conserves, the
company's national sustainability program. Cox Conserves seeks to conserve
