 - Malaysian Airlines (MASM.KL) second-quarter earnings due.
The airline could see a 1.1 billion ringgit gain on fuel
hedging as oil prices finished the quarter at above $66 a
barrel. But operating performance may remain weak due as IATA
data showed passenger and air cargo demand continued to shrink
in June.
 - July palm oil stocks, production and exports poll. Top
producing state Sabah on Borneo island could see a 15 percent
drop in output although many plantations on mainland Malaysia
were reporting higher output.
 MARKET SNAPSHOTS
 * Malaysia's index .KLSE closed mixed on Wednesday and is
likely to see a pullback after losses in the U.S. and Europe
overnight, a dealer at a local brokerage said. [.KLSE]
 *  U.S. stocks slipped on Wednesday after weak data on the
services sector and private payrolls cooled recent optimism the
recession was retreating, but the market finished off its lows
as investors ventured into riskier financial shares. [.N]
 * Oil rose on Wednesday, bolstered by a drop in U.S.
distillate inventories and optimism that a slowdown in U.S.
private job losses in July could signal a gradual turnaround in

 *  Malaysian palm oil futures ended up 1.3 percent on
Wednesday, easing off 7-week highs hit earlier as weaker crude
oil weighed on production concerns in a top palm oil growing

 ASIA MARKETS NEWS -  Asian stocks are seen making a
cautious start on Thursday after some soft U.S. economic data
prompted investors on Wall Street to take profits after a
strong three-week rally. [STXNEWS/AS] - The Indonesian rupiah
fell on Wednesday as investors took a drop in local stocks as a
cue to book profits, while most Asian currencies moved in tight
ranges amid worries about possible official intervention.
[EMRG/FRX] - Indonesian shares fell almost 2 percent on
Wednesday, snapping a four-day winning streak and leading major
Southeast Asian stock markets lower as investors unloaded
shares since a rate-cutting cycle now seems over. [.SO]
