HONG KONG Aug 6 (Reuters) - Hewlett-Packard (HPQ.N) said on Thursday it is not investing jointly with Foxconn International Holdings (2038.HK) to develop a laptop computer manufacturing hub in Chongqing, clarifing a news report earlier this week.

On Wednesday, the South China Morning Post reported that HP and Foxconn would invest $3 billion in the project. [ID:nSP344487]

Instead, an HP spokesperson told Reuters that the company had announced a collaboration with the Chongqing government to create a second global manufacturing hub for notebook PCs. This followed a statement last October that HP would build a different facility in Chongqing to produce notebook and desktop PCs.

HP declined to give further details about the investment.
