SocGen executive Mustier resigns; investigated by AMF

PARIS Aug 6 (Reuters) - Jean-Pierre Mustier, one of several top executives at Societe Generale (SOGN.PA) whose reputation was shaken by last year's trading scandal at the French bank, has tendered his resignation.

Societe Generale said in a statement on Thursday it had been informed by Mustier, a member of the executive committee, and by Robert Day, a non-executive director, that they had received letters of grievance opening proceedings for insider trading from the French financial markets authority AMF.

Societe Generale said Day and Mustier reject the allegations, adding that the group does not comment on ongoing individual procedures. (Reporting by Helen Massy-Beresford and Sudip Kar-Gupta; Editing by David Cowell)
