Three British troops killed in Afghanistan - MoD
LONDON Aug 7 (Reuters) - Three British soldiers have been killed in an explosion in southern Afghanistan, Britain's Ministry of Defence said on Friday.
The soldiers, from the Parachute Regiment, were travelling in a vehicle in Helmand province when they were ambushed by a roadside bomb and fire from Taliban insurgents, the ministry said in a statement.
A fourth man was in a critical condition.
The deaths raise to the number of British troops killed in Afghanistan to 195 since the conflict there began in 2001.
Last month was the deadliest of the 8-year war for Britain, with 22 troops killed. Roadside bombs have been the main cause of deaths.
Britain has 9,000 troops operating in Afghanistan, the vast majority in Helmand, a vast province in the south where the Taliban remain strong.
