Watson Wyatt-Towers deal gets antitrust OK
WASHINGTON, Aug 7 (Reuters) - Consulting firm Watson Wyatt Worldwide Inc WW.N has received U.S. antitrust approval to acquire rival Towers Perrin Forster & Crosby, U.S. officials said on Friday.
Antitrust authorities completed their review of the $3.5 billion deal without taking any action to block it, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission said in a notice.
In June, Watson said it planned to take over Towers Perrin to create the biggest human resources consultancy in the world. The deal was announced as Washington lawmakers grapple with how to rein in executive pay and improve disclosures about the relatively small number of compensation consulting firms used by big U.S. companies.
