Twins acquire Pavano from Indians
NEW YORK |
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Minnesota Twins added an experienced arm to their pitching staff by acquiring Carl Pavano from the Cleveland Indians, the Major League Baseball team said on Friday.
Cleveland will receive a player to be named later for the 33-year-old right-hander, who was 9-8 with a 5.37 ERA in 21 starts for the Indians this season.
Pavano's move to Minnesota comes just as the Twins are preparing for a key weekend series with American League Central division rivals the Detroit Tigers.
The former All-Star is 3-0 against the Tigers this season with a 1.93 ERA.
