LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - MTV has handed a series order to an untitled variety/comedy project starring actor and dancer Robert Hoffman.

Inspired by Hoffman's Web site punchrobert.com, the show is a combination of hidden camera, comedy and dance. It is targeted to debut in the first quarter.

Hoffman grabbed MTV brass' attention with his performance on the cable channel's improv show "Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out." He also won a best kiss MTV Movie Award last year for "Step Up 2 the Streets."

The classically trained dancer and hip-hop choreographer is onscreen "Aliens in the Attic" and recently completed the indie drama "Burning Palms."

On punchrobert.com, Hoffman posts short films in which he plays various characters. The shorts were featured on the CW's magazine "Online Nation."
