UPDATE 1-Bank of East Asia plans Shanghai listing next year

TAIPEI, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Bank of East Asia (0023.HK), Hong
Kong's fifth-largest lender, is planning to list in Shanghai
next year, a top company executive said on Tuesday, sending its
share price 3 percent higher.
"We've been thinking about (Shanghai) A shares listing,"
Brian Li, deputy chief executive of Bank of East Asia, made the
comments during a news conference in Taipei.
"We are planning on A shares listing next year," he said, adding that either BEA or the bank's China unit would list in Shanghai. He did not give other details.
The bank's shares jumped 3.2 percent on Tuesday, outpacing the main Hang Seng Index's .HSI 0.7 percent rise.
Shanghai Vice-Mayor Tu Guangshao expressed support for the launch of a so-called International Board next year at the Shanghai Stock Exchange, according to an interview published by the official Shanghai Daily. [ID:nHKG180587]
China Mobile (0941.HK) is reviving efforts to seek a listing
in Shanghai after years of unsuccessful attempts, analysts and
bankers said last week.
