NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Sony Pictures Classics is growing "Wild Grass," picking up the latest feature from French New Wave director Alain Resnais.

Andre Dussollier, Sabine Azema and Mathieu Amalric star in the film, which tells the story of a romance that begins with a found wallet. The film is based on Christian Gailly's novel "L'incident"; it premiered at this year's Cannes festival.

SPC has acquired U.S., Australian and New Zealand rights to the French-language picture.

The octogenarian Resnais, known for groundbreaking midcentury works like "Hiroshima Mon Amour," continues to work at a prolific pace. He last directed the interlocking romance "Private Fears in Public Places" in 2006.
