NEW YORK, Aug 11 (Reuters) - The International Council of Shopping Centers and Goldman Sachs on Tuesday released the following seasonally adjusted weekly data on U.S. chain store retail sales. WEEK ENDING INDEX 1977=100 YEAR/YEAR CHANGE WEEKLY CHANGE
(percent) (percent) Aug 08 495.6 0.4 0.0 Aug 01 495.5 -0.7 -0.2 July 25 496.5 -0.5 1.0 July 18 491.7 -0.3 0.5
ICSC Research expects same-store sales for August comparable store sales still to decline by 3.5 to 4.0 percent--though that would be a slight improvement from the underlying trend between December 2008 and July 2009.
The ICSC weekly U.S. retail chain store sales index is a joint publication between ICSC and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. It measures nominal same-store sales, excluding restaurant and vehicle demand, and represents about 75 retail chain stores.
