MOVES-UPDATE 2-Blackstone and Jefferies

BLACKSTONE GROUP LP (BX.N)

The private equity firm said Byron Wien will join as vice chairman of Blackstone Advisory Services. He was previously the chief investment strategist at Pequot Capital and prior to that, chief U.S. investment strategist for Morgan Stanley (MS.N) [ID:nN12114159].

JEFFERIES & CO (JEF.N)

The investment bank said Steven Hulett and Craig Tipping are joining as managing directors and co-heads of its European mortgage-backed securities and asset backed securities group.

Hulett is joining from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS.L), where he was a managing director and co-head of the structured and solutions credit group, while Tipping is coming from Nomura where he was an executive director and head of ABS Trading.

UBS AG (UBSN.VX) (UBS.N)

The Swiss bank has hired more than 20 bankers for its fixed income business as it strives to get its investment bank back on track after heavy losses in the credit crisis. [ID:nN11539566]

UBS also has made two key appointments for its Asia prime brokerage unit, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters. It named Ashley Jarvis as Asia-Pacific head of prime brokerage sales and global head of business consultancy, and Alastair Sclater as head of the firm's Singapore prime brokerage. [ID:nSGC001264]

BANK OF AMERICA MERRILL LYNCH (BAC.N)

The bank said it appointed Loli Wu as managing director and head of Americas transportation and infrastructure investment banking. Wu was most recently at Citigroup (C.N). [ID:nWNBB4297]

FCSTONE GROUP INC FCSX.O

The commodity risk management firm said it appointed Xuong Nguyen as executive vice-president of FCStone LLC. Nguyen joins FCStone from MF Global. [ID:nWNBB3776]

ALLIANCEBERNSTEIN HOLDING LP (AB.N)

The asset manager said Steven Miller was joining Sanford C. Bernstein from JPMorgan (JPM.N). [ID:nWNBB3814]

MAIDEN HOLDINGS LTD (MHLD.O)

Maiden said it appointed John Marshaleck as chief financial officer. Marshaleck was previously the company's chief operating officer. [ID:nWNBB3843]

AON BENFIELD SECURITIES

The company said Chris Parry joins its London office as director at its investment banking division.

JONES DAY

Law firm Jones Day has appointed Adam Scarrott as of counsel at its London office. He joins from CapitalSource Europe where he was General Counsel.

GUY CARPENTER & CO LLC
