Best Paper and Poster Awards, Keynote Videos on Web Also Announced
LOUISVILLE, Colo.--(Business Wire)--
The Design Automation Conference (DAC), www.dac.com, today announced final
attendance numbers for the conference held July 26 - 31, 2009 at the Moscone
Center in San Francisco. The 46th DAC attracted 5,299 conference and exhibit
attendees, comprising designers, researchers, developers, academics and
executives from across the electronic design and design automation industries,
and the entire electronic design supply chain. Including exhibitor booth staff,
a total of 7,996 individuals participated in DAC this year. The exhibit floor,
where 202 companies were represented, hummed with activity; the three keynote
sessions were filled to capacity, and the technical sessions drew large crowds
as attendees discussed the latest electronic design challenges and solutions.

"DAC attendance and community interest exceeded expectations in this challenging
year," said Andrew B. Kahng, general chair of the 46th DAC executive committee.
"This is a testament to many dedicated outreach efforts by sponsors and other
stakeholders, to the San Francisco location, and to over 13 months of
preparation by hundreds of committee members and other volunteers. The rich
technical conference and exhibit programs, with new initiatives such as the User
Track, were well-received by participants and attendees alike. In 2010 and
beyond, we look forward to continued growth of the User Track, to further
colocation of other events with DAC, and to even more of the electronic design
`life cycle` represented in DAC`s conference and exhibit."

 Conference Attendees: 1,962
 Exhibit-Only Attendees: 3,337
 Booth Staff: 2,697
 Total: 7,996

The 47th DAC will be held June 13 - 18, 2010 in Anaheim, Calif.

46th DAC Best Paper and Best User Track Poster Awards

Of the 148 regular papers presented at the 46th DAC, seven were nominated by the
technical program subcommittees for consideration for Best Paper. A special best
paper selection committee, comprised of four distinguished individuals in the
EDA community spanning academia, industry and geographies, reviewed the
nominated papers and visited all nominee presentations. This year, the User
Track was added to the DAC technical program for the first time, and a DAC Best
User Track Poster award was also established. On Thursday, July 30, the
following Best Paper and Best User Track Poster awards were presented:

* 46th DAC Best Paper Award
"A Robust and Efficient Harmonic Balance (HB) Using Direct Solution of HB
Jacobian"
Amit Mehrotra - Berkeley Design Automation, Inc., Santa Clara, Calif.
Abhishek Somani - Berkeley Design Automation, Inc., Bangalore, India

* 46th DAC Best User Track Poster Award
"Attacking Constraint Complexity in Verification IP Reuse"
Ben Chen, Srinath Atluri, Harish Krishnamoorthy - Cisco Systems, Inc., San Jose,
Calif.
Alex Wakefield, Balamurugan Veluchamy - Synopsys, Inc., Mountain View, Calif.

* 46th DAC Best User Track Poster Award Honorable Mention
"Timing Closure in 65-Nanometer ASICs Using Statistical Static Timing Analysis
Design Methodology"
Llewellyn Marshall, Eric Foreman - IBM Corp., Essex Junction, Vermont
"Visualizing Debugging Using Transaction Explorer in SOC System Verification"

About DAC

The Design Automation Conference (DAC) is recognized as the premier event for
the design of electronic circuits and systems, and for Electronic Design
Automation (EDA) and silicon solutions. A diverse worldwide community
representing more than 1,000 organizations attends each year, from system
designers and architects, logic and circuit designers, validation engineers, CAD
managers, senior managers and executives to researchers and academicians from
leading universities. Close to 60 technical sessions selected by a committee of
electronic design experts offer information on recent developments and trends,
management practices and new products, methodologies and technologies. A
highlight of DAC is its Exhibition and Suite area with approximately 200 of the
leading and emerging EDA, silicon, IP and design services providers. The
conference is sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the
Electronic Design Automation Consortium (EDA Consortium), and the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and is supported by ACM's Special
Interest Group on Design Automation (SIGDA) and IEEE's Council on Electronic
Design Automation (CEDA), Circuits and Systems Society (CASS), and
Computer-Aided Network Design (CANDE) Committee. More details are available at:
