With more than 20 years of experience in the athlete representation business, Thomas` clients include NBA All-Stars Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat, Chris Bosh of the Toronto Raptors, Devin Harris of the New Jersey Nets and Michael Finley of the San Antonio Spurs, in addition to Anthony Parker, Ronnie Brewer, Udonis Haslem, and Shaun Livingston. Former CSMG client manager and NBA certified player agent Martin McGlothan, among others from Thomas` staff, will also join CAA Sports. Thomas spent seven years at the Chicago-based sports management and marketing firm, CSMG Inc. As President of CSMG, he oversaw the strategic initiatives and operational objectives of the company`s basketball division. Throughout his career, Thomas has negotiated several of the most lucrative contracts in basketball, including Finley`s $102 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks in 2001 and Wade`s eight-figure shoe endorsement deal with Converse in 2005. Thomas earned a B.S. in Accounting from Bradley University, where he played basketball. He also earned a J.D. and LL.M in Taxation from DePaul University. Prior to becoming a basketball agent, he was a Tax Specialist at the international accounting firm of Coopers and Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers) and eventually became a partner at the Chicago-based law firm of Carney & Brothers, Ltd. In addition, Thomas established and taught a Sports Law course at DePaul, serving as Adjunct Professor of Sports Law for 23 years. Thomas and his staff will continue to be based in Chicago.
