SMC Business Councils Holding Seminar on the Americans with Disabilities Act
Amendments Act of 2008

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- SMC Business Councils will hold a seminar
on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Amendments Act of 2008 on
Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the Westinghouse Retsearch & Technology Park
in Churchill. Michael L. Brungo, Esq. of Maiello, Brungo & Maiello, LLP will
be the speaker at the seminar, which will run from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
Registration fee is $15 for SMC members and $25 for non-members.

The ADA Amendments Act was signed into law on September 25, 2008 and became
effective on January 1, 2009. According to Mr. Brungo, "The Amendments clarify
that the definition of disability will be broadly construed so as to be
applicable to individuals to the maximum extent permitted in the original ADA
legislation."

Major features to be reviewed include:

-- Definitions of "disability," "substantially limits,"
and "major life activity" and the manner in which these
        definitions will be applied.
-- How mitigating measures might be construed in assessing whether an
        individual has a disability.
-- What "regarded as having a disability" now means under the
        Act.
-- Dealing with episodic impairments or medical conditions that are in
        remission.
-- Obligations and rights of the Employer and Employee regarding
reasonable
        accommodations.

-- Strategies for avoiding and successfully defending ADA claims.
