With Only a Few Weeks before Kickoff, Demand for the Hottest Game Tickets Keep
Prices High
AUSTIN, Texas--(Business Wire)--
Despite a recent unsteady economic climate, news of a rebound is evidenced by
the high prices of college football games. While ticket prices for some of
2009`s hottest events were lowered due to restricted buyer budgets, the average
cost of some of the most in-demand college football games remains high at $385
per ticket. This time last year, tickets to the hottest games were averaging
$425 across the secondary ticketing industry. What makes college football
resistant to the economic downturn in the weeks before the actual season begins?

"Fans," answers Randy Cohen, CEO of TicketCity. "College football is unlike any
other sport out there. It`s impassioned, it`s rough and it`s real. It has three
ingredients that keep the sport strong: ambitious teams, dedicated coaches and
loyal fans. The secondary ticketing market is driven by demand and with devoted
fans of the sport returning each year to support their team, ticket prices
remain high."

The hottest college football game for September currently ranks as the most
in-demand ticket of the entire regular season. USC visits Ohio State on
September 12th making the matchup the biggest non-conference game in Columbus
since the Texas Longhorns visited in September 2005. "The beginning of the
season presents some great matchups, but most of the buzz is going to be about
the USC at Ohio State game," says Zach Anderson, COO for TicketCity. "With the
average price on the secondary market at $842, the game has one of the highest
price tags in college football ticket history."

According to Anderson the games that generate the most demand for early season
games are those that involve college football rivalries, matchups between highly
ranked teams or marquee non-conference matchups.

"Fans get more excited about a game with a big name opponent from another power
conference," adds Anderson. "You don`t see a USC at Ohio State or a Georgia at
Oklahoma State every season. When games such as these do happen, people want to
be a part of that experience."

The 2009 college football season kicks off on Thursday, September 3rd and until
then TicketCity will be selling tickets to as many as a hundred different
college football games every day. While demand for these Top 25 marquee games
remains high with the average of all games only dropping by $40, fans looking
for great deals this season can still find them. A game by game comparison to
last year reveals a drop in average price by $200 for many games and with some
ticket prices as low as $10 to $20 per ticket. "For every Ohio State versus USC,
there are dozens of other great games with more affordable ticket prices,"
comments Anderson.

TicketCity releases this week's list of the top 25 hottest games of the 2009
regular college football season based on average ticket price. The list was
accumulated by compiling a majority of the available tickets on the secondary
market throughout the entire country. The secondary market is comprised of over
800 established ticket brokers, and every fan who is listing extra tickets to
sell.

Prices will continue to fluctuate throughout the 2009 season and TicketCity will
continue to update the hottest games list from week to week. View the top 25
