3M Absorber and Shielding Tapes Protect Components and Devices

3M has built on its history of innovation in OEM tapes to create the new 3M
Multifunctional EMI/RFI Absorber and Shielding Tape AB6005 series. Combining EMI
absorbing and shielding in a single tape makes this series of three tapes
particularly well suited for applications in electronic components and in
devices such as mobile handhelds, digital still cameras and LCD televisions. One
of the tapes also handles ESD grounding.

The AB6005 tapes have absorber, shielding and insulating layers integrated in
one flexible tape. When the layers are varied in three different constructions,
three unique products result. The different constructions of the AB6005 series
products perform uniquely different shielding and absorbing functions, isolating
and separating EMI and RFI transmitters and receivers. Building multiple EMI,
RFI and ESD performance attributes into a thin tape product that is easily
converted into specific shapes changes how electronic products can be designed
and problems resolved.
