Brazil stocks tumble 3 pct after recent rally

SAO PAULO Aug 17 (Reuters) - Brazil's benchmark Bovespa stock index .BVSP shed 3 percent in early trading on Monday on fears recent gains have outpaced any possible global economic recovery.

The index, which has gained about 51 percent in 2009 as investors returned to riskier emerging market assets, slumped to 54,893.76 from 56,638 on Friday. (Reporting by Luciana Lopez; Editing by James Dalgleish)
