NEW YORK Aug 17 (Reuters) - Valero Energy Corp (VLO.N) said Monday it began restarting over the weekend a reformer unit which provides feed for distillates production at its Corpus Christi, Texas refinery following planned maintenance.

"Since this is not a main production unit, we wouldn't discuss either its capacity or its run rates," Valero spokesman Bill Day told Reuters in an email, noting the unit outage did not impact production at the 340,000 barrel-per-day refinery.

A company environmental filing over the weekend identified the unit as the SMR unit at the refinery's west plant, a unit which Day said "provides feed that goes into the production of distillates." (Reporting by Haitham Haddadin; Editing by John Picinich)
