Aug 18 (Reuters) - Applica Consumer Products Inc has voluntarily recalled about 9,800 units of China-made Black & Decker BDK.N thermal coffeemakers as they pose burn hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

The coffeemakers, which were distributed by Florida-based Applica Consumer and sold from April last year through July 2009, can overheat and melt, posing a burn hazard to consumers, the commission said.

One report has been received of a coffeemaker melting, but no injuries have been reported, the commission said in a statement.

Shares of Black & Decker Corp, which makes home improvement products, were up 19 cents at $40.87 in morning trade on the New York Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Bhaswati Mukhopadhyay in Bangalore; Editing by Deepak Kannan)
