UPDATE 1-CKE same-store sales off 3.6 pct in latest 4 weeks

* Hardee's same-store sales down 1.6 percent

* Carl's Jr. down 5.2 pct

CHICAGO Aug 18 (Reuters) - CKE Restaurants Inc CKR.N, owner of the Hardee's and Carl's Jr. Hamburger chains, said Tuesday that sales fell 3.6 percent in the four weeks ended Aug. 10 at restaurants open at least 13 months.

That decline was less than the 5.0 percent drop seen in the prior four week's the company said.

Same-store sales fell 1.6 percent at Hardee's and 5.2 percent at Carl's Jr.

Most restaurants have seen sales hit during the recession as consumers look to save money by eating more at home.

The company also estimated that second-quarter margin as a percentage of company-owned restaurant revenue would be 19.1 percent to 19.4 percent, compared with 19.3 percent a year earlier. (Reporting by Brad Dorfman, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
