TOKYO Aug 18 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei stock average slipped 0.3 percent on Tuesday as nervous investors locked in profits and turned their eyes to the moves of Chinese shares, with Advantest Corp (6857.T) and other exporters lower. But defensive shares such as telecommunications and railways clawed higher, with NTT DoCoMo (9437.T) up 1.7 percent to 141,400 yen. The benchmark Nikkei .N225 shed 14.21 points to 10,254.40, while the broader Topix .TOPX lost 0.4 percent to 945.41. (Reporting by Elaine Lies)
