FACTBOX-Security developments in Iraq, Aug 19

Aug 19 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1845 GMT on Wednesday.

* BAGHDAD - A series of blasts in central Baghdad killed 95 people and wounded 536, Iraqi police said. The blasts occurred near government ministries and other sensitive targets.

* MOSUL - One policeman was killed and three wounded when armed men clashed with police in western Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

* MOSUL - Unknown gunmen killed an off-duty policeman in central Mosul, police said.

* NEAR MOSUL - A roadside bomb killed one Iraqi soldier and wounded four others when it exploded just west of Mosul, police said.

DIWANIYA - A U.S. soldier stationed at FOB Echo in Diwaniya, 150 km (95 miles) south of Baghdad, was killed in combat, the U.S. military said. No details were provided. KHALDIYA - A car bomb wounded three policemen and two civilians when it exploded near a police station in Khaldiya, 83 km (50 miles) southwest of Baghdad, police said.

KIRKUK - Gunmen killed a Christian trying to save his Christian neighbour, a doctor, from being abducted in the north of Kirkuk, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.
