VIENNA Aug 19 (Reuters) - Telekom Austria (TELA.VI) kept its outlook for this year's core earnings when it reported second-quarter results in line with analyst forecasts, defying market expectations of a profit warning.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation

(EBITDA) in the June quarter came in at 450 million euros ($636 million), slightly below the average estimate of 453 million euros in a Reuters poll of 10 analysts.

The group also said it would begin share buybacks next year and spend around a third of its free cashflow after dividends for them. The group will cancel on Monday about 3.7 percent of its outstanding stock which it holds as treasury shares.
