US STOCKS SNAPSHOT-Wall St rises further after home sales data

NEW YORK Aug 21 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose further on Friday, with the major indexes up more than 1 percent, after data showed sales of used homes in the U.S. rose more than expected in July.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI rose 119.03 points, or 1.27 percent, to 9,469.08. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX added 14.77 points, or 1.47 percent, to 1,022.14. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC gained 22.58 points, or 1.14 percent, to 2,011.80. (Editing by Padraic Cassidy)
