Indian shares provisionally rise 2.2 pct

MUMBAI Aug 24 (Reuters) - Indian shares provisionally rose 2.2 percent on Monday, tracking strong overseas peers, after Wall Street rose on Friday following surprisingly good U.S. home sales data and positive comments by the U.S. Federal Reserve chief.

The 30-share BSE index .BSESN provisionally ended up 334.82 points at 15,575.65, with 29 stocks gaining.

The 50-share NSE index .NSEI provisionally closed up 2.1 percent at 4,625.80. (Reporting by Pratish Narayanan; Editing by Himani Sarkar)
