Toyota to lift Nov Japan output from yr-ago -paper
TOKYO |
TOKYO Aug 25 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) plans to raise its daily production level in Japan in November compared with a year earlier for the first time in 16 months, thanks to a recovery in demand, the Asahi newspaper reported on Tuesday.
Toyota, the world's largest carmaker, aims to make 14,500 vehicles per day in November, according to the daily. It did not say what scale of increase the figure represented.
A Toyota spokeswoman said she could not immediately comment on the report.
For October the carmaker aims to roll out 14,500 cars per day, up 770 from its previous plan set in July, the paper said.
But Toyota also appears to be considering cutting its daily production back to around 12,000 vehicles, its break-even level, next spring as government measures to promote purchases of new cars are likely to end, putting a brake on demand growth, the newspaper said. Expecting a fall back in Toyota's production, parts suppliers have remained relatively cautious about the rate of production increase in the coming months, the Asahi said.
