Circuit City unsecured creditors may get 13.5 pct
NEW YORK |
NEW YORK Aug 25 (Reuters) - General unsecured creditors of the shuttered electronics chain Circuit City Stores Inc CCTYQ.PK could receive no more than 13.5 percent on their claims and possibly less, according to a plan filed with the bankruptcy court.
The electronics chain, founded in 1949, filed for bankruptcy in November, victim of the U.S. recession. It has sold most of its assets and is in the process of winding down the remainder of its estate.
In court documents filed on Monday, the plan suggests that general unsecured claims can expect an estimated recovery of zero percent to 13.5 percent. The so-called Class 4 claims are entitled to vote on the proposed plan.
There are between $1.8 billion to $2 billion in Class 4 claims, according to the documents.
