Aug 26 (Reuters) - Japanese chipmakers NEC Electronics Corp (6723.T) and Renesas Technology Corp may get 200 billion yen ($2.12 billion) in aid for their proposed merger, the Nikkei business daily reported, without citing sources.

Hitachi Ltd (6501.T), Mitsubishi Electric Corp (6503.T) and NEC Corp (6701.T) are close to agreeing on the financial assistance, Nikkei said.

The financial assistance will be provided mainly by Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electric by buying new shares to be issued by Renesas, the paper said, adding that NEC Electronics will also shoulder a part of the funding.

The merger ratio is likely to be set at one-to-one and an official agreement for the integration will be signed this month, Nikkei said.

Last month, the two companies had said they will delay the signing of a merger agreement until the end of August as due diligence was taking longer than expected.

A deal between unlisted Renesas, the world's sixth-biggest chipmaker, and NEC Electronics, the world's 11th-largest, would create the world's third-largest semiconductor maker after Intel Corp (INTC.O) and Samsung Electronics Co (005930.KS).
