Chrysler has no deal signed for Jeeps in China: spokesman

MILAN (Reuters) - U.S. auto giant Chrysler has not signed a deal with Fiat's Chinese partner Guangzhou Auto GAIGPA.UL to produce Jeeps in China, a Chrysler spokesman said on Tuesday, after media reported there was an agreement.

"There's a lot of interest in the Chinese market, but up to now there's been no deal of this kind signed," the spokesman said.

Fiat has a 20 percent stake in Chrysler CCMLPD.UL, the third-largest car maker in the United States, and its chief executive, Sergio Marchionne, also heads the American company.

Italian news agency ANSA reported that Chrysler had signed the deal for Jeeps, quoting Chinese publication Time Weekly www.time-weekly.com.

Fiat agreed a deal with Guangzhou Auto to produce the cars last month.
