Bank of China expects lending to slow in H2
BEIJING |
BEIJING Aug 27 (Reuters) - Bank of China (3988.HK) (601988.SS) expects the pace of its lending to slow in the second half of the year, following explosive growth that saw its loans jump more than 30 percent in the first half under Beijing's economic stimulus programme.
President Li Lihui made the remarks in a briefing with analysts to discuss the company's latest results.
His comments echoed those by Bank of China's top rivals, which have forecast their lending will slow considerably in the second half as the central government moves to guard against the formation of a bubble in China's economy.
