Continental Products' Eco-Cycle Delivery Bags Now Contain at Least 20%
Post-Consumer Recycled Materials

MEXICO, Mo., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- To further its commitment to producing
environmentally responsible plastic bags, Continental Products announced it is
now manufacturing Eco-Cycle newspaper bags using a minimum of 20%
post-consumer recycled materials.

Eco-Cycle newspaper delivery bags were first introduced in April 2008.
Hundreds of newspapers across the United States already use them, including
the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Arizona Daily Republic, Washington
Post, U.S.A. Today, and Hearst Newspapers.

Post-consumer recycled materials come from plastic that has been used and
recycled by consumers. If the post-consumer waste hadn't been recycled, it
would have gone into the landfill.

Re-grind materials also go into Eco-Cycle bags. Re-grind comes from waste that
is generated in the manufacturing process. It is good environmental practice
to use re-grind but it doesn't prevent waste from going to a landfill. Many
manufacturers incorporate re-grind materials into bags but few have
Continental's ability to utilize post-consumer materials.

Eco-Cycle bags are also 100% recyclable into other products. Consumers can
take them to thousands of retail locations across the country that have
plastic grocery bag collection bins. Eco-Cycle bags and other recyclable
plastic bags are reprocessed and used in new products like low maintenance
outdoor lumber, pallets, railroad ties, and other bags.

To encourage their recycling, Continental Products has a message printed on
Eco-Cycle bags. The message includes the American Chemistry Council's Bring it
Back logo and consumer web site address, www.plasticbagrecycling.org, which
lists locations where bags are accepted.

"Eco-Cycle bags are a perfect example of closed loop recycling," according to
Carl Fuemmeler, Continental Products' president. "We use post-consumer
recycled materials to make them, and they are also recyclable. The same
materials can be used repeatedly as long as there are no biodegradable or
compostable additives in them."

"Eco-Cycle bags are the only bags on the newspaper market made with
post-consumer recycled materials. We're proud that we are able to offer the
most environmentally responsible plastic delivery bag available", added
Fuemmeler.

Continental Products has supplied home delivery supplies to newspapers across
the United States for over 40 years. They employ 200 people at their Missouri
headquarters.
